Alan D. Sobel, the Managing Member of Sobel & Co., is responsible for facilitating the strategic direction and the day-to-day management of the firm.  Alan has considerable experience with mergers and acquisitions and delivers added value working with clients on sourcing deals, negotiating and structuring transactions, financial and business due diligence and transaction financing. 

In addition, Alan advises business owners of privately held entities in the manufacturing, construction, distribution, real estate development and financial services industries, applying his expertise in the areas of financial reporting, tax planning for businesses and high net worth individuals, and strategic business planning. 

Credentials and Professional Associations

  • Certified Public Accountant in both New Jersey and New York.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is currently serving a three year term on the Joint Trial Board of the AICPA through 2015 
  • Member of New Jersey (NJSCPA) and New York State Societies of Certified Public Accountants.  Alan is a past Chairman of the NJSCPA Audit Committee, former Vice President and trustee of the NJSCPA and a past President of its Essex Chapter. He has served on various NJSCPA committees

Community Involvement and Philanthropy

Throughout his career Alan has been actively involved with a wide range of philanthropic endeavors across the state, including:

  • Seven years as the President of the Board of Directors for The Children’s Institute, a non-profit school for emotionally challenged and autistic children where he continues to remain involved as a passionate advocate
  • Named as 2015 Corporate Honoree for the TCI Hall of Fame
  • Former President of Temple Beth Am, in Parsippany, New Jersey
  • Former board member of Gilda’s Club Northern New Jersey
  • Previous chair of the CPA 5K for the Benefit of Children’s Charities
  • Board member of Jewish Community Housing of Metro-west

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Bentley University
  • Masters of Science in Taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University where he was elected to the National Honor Society for Business Administration
