Ellen Marvin, EA, is the Director and one of the founders of the Core Services Group at Sobel & Co. She began her life long career in the world of accounting in earnest when she began working at a local public accounting firm in Clifton, NJ. After eight years working with their clients – comprised of small businesses - by providing tax, payroll and write up services, Ellen developed the technical skills she would leverage as she continued to grow as a professional.
Ready for the challenges and opportunities that a larger, regional firm could offer, in January 2001, Ellen joined Sobel & Co. where she had already met some of the Firm’s partners. Her depth of previous experience made her the perfect fit for the Firm’s entrepreneurial type clients.
The concept for the Sobel & Co. Core Services Group originally evolved from her expertise in serving this critical market segment. Today she is the Director at the Firm working in tandem with Glenn Taylor, Member of the Firm, to direct the group’s seven full time and six part time employees on a day-to-day basis. This dynamic group is comprised of paraprofessionals and seasoned accountants who work with Glenn and Ellen in a team approach that creates a value-added experience for the Firm’s small and mid-size clients.
Ellen has other responsibilities as well, serving as Operations Manager, a role which involves overseeing many of the strategic operational goals for the Firm, including developing a paperless Tax Department, an improved file management process and the implementation of a wide range of procedures that continue to improve the Firm’s efficiency.
Her enthusiasm and passions for Sobel & Co. led to her receiving a special “Encourage” Award from the partner group in recognition of her positive influence on the Firm’s culture.
